Auxiliary Wellness Committee plans fall, winter programming
The Margaretville Hospital Auxiliary Wellness Committee kicks off an annual series of Wellness-themed events at the seventh annual Cauliflower Festival this Saturday in the Margaretville Village Park behind Freshtown. You don’t have to be elderly to know how important the first month’s theme is—Healthy Aging. Anyone of any age should stop by the Wellness tent for a free blood pressure screening and good advice on healthy exercise.
October’s theme—Breast Cancer Awareness—will include two presentations on reducing the risks of breast cancer: Tuesday October 13 at 1 p.m. at Roxbury Library and Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at Andes Library. Breast cancer survivors will share some of their personal experiences and invite your questions at both events.
Upcoming Wellness-themes will focus on Diabetes Health, Winter Wellness, and Your Healthy Heart. All events are free and the public is encouraged to attend. For more information contact Wellness Committee chair John Riedl at 607 588-7711.
Margaretville Auxiliary Wellness Committee programs are supported in part by a grant from the O’Connor Foundation, your generous donations, and a unique collaboration of the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce, Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Blue Deer Center among others.
The auxiliary works all year on behalf of the well-being of our local communities through its association with Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center, proud members of Health Alliance of the Hudson Valley.
