Audrey (McNair) Gould Tompkins, 74, of Schoharie Hill Road, Schoharie died Saturday March 17, 2012 at her daughter’s home after a long illness. She had lived in Schoharie since 1998, having previously resided in Windham/Ashland and Garden City, Long Island.
Mrs. Tompkins was born June 16, 1937 in New London, CT a daughter of Abb G. and Olga B. (Sekora) McNair. Upon graduating high school, she later received her associate’s degree from Nassau Community College and her bachelor’s and master’s in school psychology from Queens College. Audrey retired from Windham-Ashland-Jewett High School as the school psychologist and also worked at the Hunter-Tannersville, Charlotte Valley, Margaretville, and Schoharie schools along with many others.
She was a master gardener with Cornell Cooperative Extension and served as the Ashland Town Judge. Audrey enjoyed gardening, classical music, crossword puzzles, mentoring students, cooking and baking.
She was married to Franklyn Tompkins for many years until his death.
Survivors include her daughter Leslie (Jose’) Roselli of Schoharie and three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Hannah, and Alex Roselli and her former husband Ronald Gould. She was predeceased by one brother, Donald McNair.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday March 22, 2012 at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Ashland. There will be no calling hours.
