Area Police News: May 15, 2013

An editing error in its issue of May 8 caused the Catskill Mountain News to mistakenly identify Mary J. Batthany, 54, of Delhi as having been arrested by state police on May 1 and charged with DWI. She was neither arrested nor charged, she was simply the owner of a vehicle operated by an individual who was charged. The News regrets the error and any confusion it may have caused.

Paul M. Malec Jr., 41, of Chichester was arrested by Shandaken Police on May 10 and charged with aggravated DWI after the pickup truck he was driving struck a guide rail on state Route 214 in Phoenicia. Police say they also charged Malec with leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
Malec was transported from the Shandaken Police station to Kingston Hospital for evaluation.

Gene F. Terry, 66, of Andes was arrested by state police on May 8 and charged with DWI after he was stopped for speeding on Main Street in Andes.
Terry was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Andes Justice Court on May 23 at 5 p.m.

Byron H. Vitch, 45, of Roscoe was arrested by state police on May 10 and charged with aggravated DWI after he was stopped on Main Street in Downsville.
Police say they charged Vitch when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .22 percent. In addition to DWI he was charged with failure to signal, obstructed rear plate and uninspected motor vehicle.
He was arraigned in Town of Andes Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail to await further court action. He was scheduled to appear in Town of Colchester Justice Court on May 14.

Bridget M. Osborn, 18, of Lexington was arrested by state police on May 12 and charged with DWAI following a one-car property damage accident on Route 23 in Harpersfield.
Police say they charged Osborn when her blood alcohol level allegedly tested .06 percent. She was also charged with moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right, uninspected motor vehicle, and unsafe tires, all returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court.
