A Roxbury man was charged with reckless driving Sunday morning when, according to Roxbury Constable Steve Williamson, he woke up almost everyone who lives along Main Street in the hamlet at 4 a.m. by spinning his tires while making at least two passes up and down Route 30.
Constable Williamson says he charged Garrett Hinkley, 18, with reckless driving and gave him an appearance ticket returnable in Roxbury Justice Court.
Williamson told the News that Roxbury’s Main Street was covered from one end to the other with black tire marks from Hinkley vehicle.
Michele R. Whalen, 46, of Roscoe was arrested by state police on May 8 and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after she was stopped on Route 30 in Downsville for having a suspended license. She was also charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Whalen was issued appearance tickets and then transported to the county jail on a parole violation to await further court action.
Christopher J. Michella, 20, of Walden was arrested by state police on May 11 and charged with DWI following a personal-injury auto accident on Route 28 one mile west of Margaretville.
Police say they charged Michella when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .11 percent. He was given an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on May 29.
Emma J. Berry, 17, of Bovina was arrested by state police on May 11 and charged with possession of alcohol by a person under 21 when the car in which she was a passenger was stopped on Route 10 in Hobart for a traffic violation.
Police say they found beer in the car after stopping it and, during questioning, Berry admitted it was hers.
She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court on May 19.
