Area Police News: March 10, 2010

Joseph D. Kinch, 19, of Delhi was arrested by state police Sunday and charged with DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped at a stationary road check on Route 10 in the Town of Delhi. Kinch was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Delhi Court on April 6.

Kyle W. Alverson, 21, of Delhi and Anthony L. Meccariello, 19, of Norwich were each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Sunday when they were stopped by state police on Route 10 in Delhi. Both defendants were issued appearance tickets returnable in Delhi Justice Court on March 30.

Christopher J. Bernert, 24, of Willow Grove, PA was arrested by state police Friday and charged with DWI after he was stopped on Route 28 in Arkville for speeding. Police say they charged Bernert when his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .08 percent. He was arraigned in Middletown Court where he posted $500 cash bail and was released to reappear later.

Donna M. Ramos, 47, of Margaretville was arrested last week Monday by state police and charged with writing a bad check. She was arraigned in Middletown Justice Court, paid restitution and was released.

Barbara A. Johnson, 44, of Roxbury was arrested by state police Friday and charged with petit larceny and issuing a bad check. Police say they received a complaint from the director of operations of Verona Oil Company alleging that Johnson, who is the manager of their Country Store in Stamford, stole $600 in cash and wrote the store a bad check. Johnson was issued appearance tickets returnable in Stamford Justice Court on April 1.

Franklin B. Pfeiffer, 23, of Cottage Valley was arrested Sunday by Shandaken Police and charged with petit larceny after he allegedly stole a snowboard at Belleayre. Shandaken Police report that they stopped Pfeiffer on Galli Curci Road and found him in possession of the stolen property. He was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana following a search of his vehicle. He was issued appearance tickets returnable later in Shandaken Justice Court.

Lori Knapp, 41, of Margaretville, who was arrested by Shandaken Police on August 6, 2009 and charged with DWI, had that charge dismissed last week in Shandaken Justice Court when her attorney moved that police had no probable cause for her arrest on the DWI charge and the justice agreed. Knapp did plead guilty to a charge of failure to obey a traffic control device, a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Knapp was represented by Michael A.
