Area Police News: July 24, 2013

David R. VanHoesen, 52, of Harpersfield was arrested by state police on July 14 and charged with DWI after police responded to a 911 call and found him at his home, lying on the ground outside his vehicle. Police say he failed a field sobriety test but then refused further cooperation.
Police say they charged VanHoesen with DWI and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court where he posted $500 cash bail to await further court action on August 9 at 1 p.m.

Shannon M. Finch, 40, of Fleischmanns was arrested by state police on July 16 and charged with violating a Delaware County Family Court order of protection.
He was arraigned in Town of Middletown Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $250 cash bail to await further court action.

Cody J. Smolin, 19, of Roxbury was arrested by state police on July 16 and charged with second-degree harassment following what police say was a domestic dispute with an aunt during which he allegedly punched her in the face.
Smolin is scheduled to appear n Town of Roxbury Justice Court on July 24 to answer the charge.
Kevin S. Rotella, 21, of Phoenicia was arrested by state police on July 18 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after police stopped his car on Route 28 in Middletown for a loud muffler.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on August 1 at 9 a.m.

Three area men were each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after state police stopped the car in which they were riding for a traffic violation on Route 30 in Middletown on July 18.
Police say they charged Logan D. Coss, 18, of Roxbury, Michael P. VanSteenburg, 21, of Arkville, and Duane L. Wilkens, 19, of Shandaken.
All three men were issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court.

Joseph G. Leonard, 17, of Bloomville was arrested by state police on July 13 and charged with DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a person under 21 when he was stopped on Route 10 in Kortright for a traffic violation.
Leonard was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Kortright Justice Court on August 6 at 7 p.m.
Jonathan Varrecchia, 19, of Troy was arrested by state police on July 12 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped on Route 30 in Roxbury for a traffic violation.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on July 24 at 7 p.m.
Jonathon R. Hynes, 32, of Stamford was arrested by state police on July 16 and charged with second-degree scheme to defraud and issuing a bad check after he allegedly deposited checks at NBT branches in Hobart and Grand Gorge that had been written on a closed account at Key Bank.
Hynes was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Roxbury Court on August 7.
Michael T. Boland, 55, of Arkville was arrested by state police on July 21 and charged with DWI after he was stopped on Route 28 in Middletown for a traffic violation.
Boland was arraigned in Town of Middletown Justice Court and released pending further court action.
Samantha A. Levin, 24, of West Newton, MA was arrested by state police on July 21 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 28 in Delhi for speeding.
Police say Levin was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Delhi Justice Court on July 30 at 9 a.m.
Thomas W. Jefferys, 52, of Delhi was arrested by state police on July 22 and charged with DWI after he stopped at the state police barracks in Margaretville to pick up a friend who was there after she had been arrested, also for DWI.
Police say they charged Jefferys when they smelled alcohol on his breath and his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .10 percent.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Middletown Court on August 15 at 9 a.m.
