Area Police News: January 18, 2012

Shandaken Police were called to a group residence on January 12 for a complaint of a resident allegedly making threats against others. Police responded and arrested Kevin Washington, 41, for one count of harassment and one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance for allegedly possessing a crack pipe with cocaine residue.
Washington was issued appearance tickets and transported to Kingston Hospital for evaluation.

Shandaken Police and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police were requested to assist the Big Indian and Pine Hill fire departments on January 10 with an investigation of a large burn that occurred on January 6 on Deer Lane in Oliverea.
Police state that two men were demolishing the former Valley View Morel on Deer Lane and burning demolition debris from that site on location.
The men, Gerasimos Kokosis, 53, of Jackson Heights, Queens and Alexandros Bardis, 60, of Margaretville possessed a burn permit for brush only and were each charged with one count of unlawful dumping of solid waste and burning other than brush, both violations.

Donald M. Hoskins, 32, of Roxbury was arrested by state police on January 11 and charged with petit larceny after he allegedly stole approximately $486 worth of merchandise from the Stamford Country Store in Stamford where he worked.
Police say that while processing Hoskins they determined that there were outstanding warrants for his arrest from state police in Horseheads and the Elmira City Police Department.
He was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail to reappear on January 18 at 7 p.m.

Glen W. Merwin, 31, of Jefferson was arrested by state police on January 15 and charged with DWI after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Main Street in Stamford.
Police say they charged Merwin when his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .10 percent. Police say they also found marijuana in Merwin’s vehicle and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Merwin was issued appearance tickets returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court on February 2 at 9 a.m.

Christopher J. Pitera, 29, of Hobart was arrested by state police on January 14 and charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped on River Street in Stamford.
Pitera was arraigned and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $500 cash bail to await further court action on January 19 at 7 p.m. before Town Justice Nicholson.

Linda K. Springman, 62, of Roxbury was arrested by state police on January 9 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 30 in Margaretville for a traffic violation. Police say they charged Springman when her blood alcohol content allegedly tested .11 percent.
Police say they also charged Springman with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after they allegedly found one Hydrocodone pill in her possession.
She was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on January 23 at 9 a.m.

Charles E. Pavia, 21, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on January 12 and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after police questioned him in the parking lot of the Country Store in Grand Gorge.
Pavia was arraigned in Town of Roxbury Justice Court and released on $2,000 cash bail to reappear on January 18 at 9 a.m.

Sara K. Paige, 25, of Mt. Vernon was arrested by state police on January 13 and charged with one count of second-degree harassment following a domestic dispute with her mother in Roxbury. Paige was arraigned in Town of Middletown Justice Court and released pending further court action.

Anthony C. Coss, 43, of Bainbridge was arrested by state police on January 10 and charged with speeding and operating a vehicle without a license after he was stopped in Walton. He was issued tickets returnable in Walton Town Court on January 25 at 7 p.m.

Franklin J. Davis, 26, of Stamford was arrested by state police on January 6 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped on Harper Street in Stamford for a traffic violation.
Davis was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court on February 2 at 9 a.m.

Frank Darmody, 32, of Stamford was arrested by state police on January 8 and charged with third-degree aggravated operation of a vehicle after he was stopped on South Street in Stamford. Police say Darmody also faces a number of traffic charges as a result of the stop.
He was issued traffic tickets returnable in Stamford Court on January 18.
