Area Police News: Feb. 17, 2010

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department arrested Jared Rice, 28, of Stamford on February 9, charging him with one count each of first-degree criminal sexual act, a class B felony and first-degree sexual abuse, also a class D felony. Rice is alleged to have had sexual contact with a child less than 11 years of age. These charges stem from an incident that is alleged to have occurred in 2007 in the Village of Delhi.
Rice was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Court, released on his own recognizance and was scheduled to reappear in Delhi Court on February 16.

Shandaken Police report the arrest last week Tuesday of Adam A. Demskie, 27, of Pine Hill. Police say that Demskie made threats against a witness in a prior petit larceny case where he was arrested and charged with shoplifting at he Phoenicia Country Store in January. Demskie was charged with one count of felony intimidating a witness and aggravated harassment. He was arraigned in Town of Shandaken Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail to await further court action.

Bobby D. Mosley, 27, of Prattsville was arrested by state police Friday and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after he was stopped for speeding in a school zone on Route 30 in Roxbury. Mosley was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Roxbury Court on February 24.

Crystal Scudder, 40, of Halcottsville faces a number of charges after she allegedly borrowed a rented car from a friend without permission and drove it to Kingston.
Police say that when they located Scudder she was charged with DWAI drugs, driving with a suspended license and several other traffic violations.
She was arraigned in Middletown Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail.

Renni Peirce, 27, of Roxbury was arrested by state police Friday and charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation after he was stopped on Route 30 near Margaretville for having an inadequate muffler. He was issued appearance tickets returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on February 18.

Lawrence R. Lonergan, 46, of Verona, NJ was arrested by state police Sunday and charged with DWAI after he was stopped on Route 30 in the Town of Roxbury for failure to dim his headlights. Lonergan was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Roxbury Justice Court on February 17.

David P. Mody, 60, of Stamford was arrested by state police Saturday and charged with DWAI drugs after he was stopped on Route 10 in the Village of Stamford for having a loud exhaust. In addition, Mody was also charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
