Area Police News: December 28, 2011
Four residents of Delaware and Otsego counties, including a Bovina resident, were arrested in a coordinated drug raid last Tuesday, Dec. 20 during which authorities say they seized more than $120,000 worth of oxycodone powder and $1,800 in cash.
Scott Burns, 45, of Lee Hollow Road in the Town of Bovina was arrested and charged by state police with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police say they seized approximately nine grams of oxycodone powder, drug paraphernalia and packaging material commonly associated with the sale of a controlled substance and also marijuana, 15 long guns, $640 in cash, a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta and a 2001 GMC Sonoma from Burns’ residence.
Also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance was Jeffrey Vollkommer, 39, of Middlemist Road in the Town of Delhi.
Police say they seized approximately 28 grams of oxycodone powder, 28 grams of cocaine, five long guns and $1,300 in cash from Vollkommer’s residence.
Both Burns and Vollkommer were arraigned in the Town of Delhi Justice Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Also arrested were Clarence Vanier, 43, and Melody Vanier, 38, who both reside at 5441 State Highway 7 in the Town of Oneonta. They were each charged with first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police say that from their home they seized over 335 grams of oxycodone with a street value of over $117,000 and other drug paraphernalia commonly associated with the sale of controlled substances. They were arraigned in Town of Oneonta Court and remanded to the Otsego County Jail without bail.
New York State Police were assisted in the investigation and raid by members of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration out of their Syracuse office.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
