Area Police News: December 26, 2012
Two young men, both from Mastic, New York, were arrested by state police on December 19 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after the car in which they were riding was stopped on Main Street in Delhi for a traffic violation.
Police say they detected the odor of marijuana and charged Kevin P. Hughes, 21, and Zachary R. Bower, 21. The driver of the vehicle, Connor E. Hughes, 17, also of Mastic, was issued a ticket for stopping beyond a crosswalk.
All of the tickets were returnable in Town of Delhi Justice Court on January 22 at 9 a.m.
Matthew T. Foy, 22, of Bovina Center was arrested by state police on December 19 and charged with DWI after police allegedly found him passed out in his vehicle on Gladstone Hollow Road in Andes.
Police say they charged Foy when his blood alcohol content allegedly tested .14 percent.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Andes Justice Court on January 10 at 7 p.m.
Barbara Knowlton, 50, of Delhi was arrested by state police on December 20 and charged with DWI drugs after police found her standing next to her running vehicle on Route 30 in Margaretville. Police say Knowlton told them that she had been looking for her son and that she was lost.
Police say Knowlton was transported to Margaretville Hospital where a blood sample was drawn and that she was then admitted to the hospital for an existing medical condition.
Kathleen M. Denario, 50, of Hobart was arrested by state police on December 18 and charged with burglary after she allegedly stole a number of items from a Stamford apartment.
Denario was arraigned in Town of Stamford Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail to await further court action.
