Hector L. Padilla Jr., 44, of Stamford was arrested by Delaware County Sheriff’s Investigators on December 18 on drug and weapon possession charges.
The arrest is the result of a seven-month investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division, in cooperation with the New York State Police, and the execution of a search warrant at the man’s Village of Stamford residence. The search led to the seizure of 65 bags of heroin, a loaded handgun, a stun gun, numerous prescription medications and nearly $700 in cash. Sheriff’s office narcotics detection canine “Ozzie” assisted deputies and investigators in conducting a search.
Padilla was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance a class B felony, and three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is accused of possessing the heroin with intent to sell.
The recovered handgun was one of several handguns reported missing from the estate of a South Kortright resident who passed away earlier this year.
Padilla was arraigned before the Honorable James Merritt in the Town of Harpersfield Justice Court and was ordered held in the county jail in lieu of $30,000 cash bail pending further court action.
Investigators anticipate additional charges relating to heroin and prescription narcotic sales will be filed against Padilla at a later time.
