Area Police News: August 15, 2012

Shandaken Police report the August 11 arrest of Kathryn M. Hopper, 54, of Newburgh for DWI after she was stopped for a traffic violation. Police say they observed her vehicle failing to maintain lane.
In addition to DWI she was also charged with three other traffic violations. She was arraigned at Olive Town Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail to await further court action.

Paul C. Garofolo, 37, of Margaretville was arrested by state police on August 8 and charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree aggravated harassment after he allegedly made hundreds of phone calls from the county jail in Delhi to a former girlfriend in violation of an order of protection.
Police say that Garofolo has made 523 documented calls from the jail to her cell phone. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Stamford Justice Court on August 28 at 6 p.m.

Matei A. Liuba, 32, of Hobart was arrested on August 6 by state police and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Route 10 in Harpersfield for a traffic violation.
Police say they charged Liuba after she allegedly failed a field sobriety test. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Harpersfield Justice Court on August 27 at 7 p.m.

Lata C. Kennedy, 46, of Hamden was arrested by state police on August 11 and charged with DWI after she was stopped on Launt Hollow Road in Hamden for a traffic violation.
Police say they charged Kennedy after she allegedly failed a field sobriety test. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Hamden Justice Court on September 3 at 5:30 p.m.

Edward F. Lane, 43, of Arkville was arrested by state police on August 11 and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Police say were responding to a disorderly conduct complaint in Arkville and that when they asked Lane for identification they found him to be in possession of marijuana.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Middletown Justice Court on August 23 at 9 a.m.
