Arc of Delaware County held adaptive ski program
This winter marked the second consecutive year that Belleayre Ski Center has operated an adaptive ski program to teach people from The Arc of Delaware County how to ski. Roughly 10 people from the Arkville program participated, some of whom have been confined to wheelchairs their entire lives. There were also a number of participants from the Walton program.
“The ski instructors are equally excited about this program and have been wonderful teachers to the people we serve,” said Catherine Tweedie, director of community relations for The Arc of Delaware County.
Belleayre received the “Good Neighbor Award” from Delarc in June for running the program last winter. Participation this year increased, while participants from last year gained even greater independence.
