Andes hosts open house Saturday at new highway garage

Town of Andes officials will host a dedication and open house on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. to mark the completion of the town’s new highway garage. The garage, which is located on county Route 1 south of the hamlet of Andes, was built using grant and loan funds from the USDA’s Community Facilities program. The garage has been named the Harold C. Grommeck Town Highway Garage after the late Harold Grommeck, a former town board member, in recognition of his tireless work on behalf of the people of the Town of Andes.
Andes Supervisor Marty Donnelly and the Andes Town Board will host the event.
The public is invited and refreshments will be provided by Delaware Engineering, engineers for the project. Many local, county and state representatives will be on hand.
Attendees will be able to tour the facility.
The town’s old highway garage, located on Route 28 west of the hamlet, will be retained for seasonal storage.
Richard Wakeman Inc. of Sidney Center constructed the new building.
