Alta hosting log raisings for up-close building view

Alta Log Homes held a Log Home Raising on October 31 in Halcottsville, to which community members were invited to learn about the process of building log homes and to learn about how such houses become energy-efficient once completed.
“The log home raising is more or less an educational program that we do for people who are interested in how the logs go together,” said David Mann, vice president of Alta. “So we show them how to square, level and plumb in the first three courses and then we drill for electrical outlets and it continues from there. We keep stacking logs until the walls are all up and then we start working on the roof.”
Alta Log Homes will hold another log home raising on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. next to the office and factory in Halcottsville.
Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP by calling 845 586-3336.
