Alan Galowitz, 80, of Andes died peacefully at home on Friday, Jan. 29, 2010. He was born Oct. 23, 1929 in Brooklyn, the son of Ida and Morris Galowitz, the brother of Ruth Block and Lila Rockstein. He was the devoted husband of Phyllis, loving father of Lori Ortiz, Jeannie (Pablo Delano), Amy (John Heney) and Cara Galowitz and the loving grandfather of David and Emily Delano and Ian Heney.
Alan served as a photographer in the Air Force during the Korean War. He brought integrity and dedication to his businesses, Snapdragon, Inc., Modern Juniors and later, Galowitz Photographics, Inc. where he advocated preservation of family history.
He was an active and insightful member of the Andes community and a tireless advocate for social reform and world government.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville with Allison Jay Bookhout, Spiritual Care Coordinator for Catskill Area Hospice officiating.
A calling hour will be from 12 noon, Feb. 6 until service time at 1 p.m. at Hynes Funeral Hone.
