ACS, MCS and RCS announce top students for the Class of 2008
Three area schools have announced the names of their valedictorians and salutatorians for the 2007-08 academic year. Andes Central School recognized Cheyenne Tait and Carrianne Fairbairn as valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively. Roxbury Central School named Alisa Fersch and Michelle Massell, while Margaretville Central School named Nevin Perez and Aja Jenkins.
Andes Central School has announced the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the Class of 2008. Cheyenne Tait has been named the Valedictorian.
Cheyenne is the daughter of Judith Tait and Dale Tait, both of Andes. Cheyenne plans to attend Princeton University next year and major in biology.
While at Andes Central School Cheyenne was active in soccer and basketball. She was also active in the music department, being a member of both chorus, senior band and jazz band. Cheyenne also had a major role in the drama department’s 2008 production of “The Real Story of Cinderella.”
Cheyenne has been a member of the National Honor Society, Business Honor Society, the Outdoor Club, SADD, Science Club, captain of Academic Team, Media Club, Travel Club and Student Council.
Carrianne Fairbairn has been named the Salutatorian. Carrianne is the daughter of Timothy Fairbairn of Andes and plans to attend SUCO Oneonta and major in psychology.
While at Andes Central Carrianne has been active in the sports program, playing soccer, basketball, softball and track. Carrianne also held the lead role in the 2008 production of “The Real Story of Cinderella.”
While at Andes Central School, Carrianne has been a member of the Senior Chorus, Area All-State Chorus, the National Honor Society, Outdoor Club, yearbook staff, Student Council, Media Club, Science Club, Travel Club and Forensics.
Roxbury Central School officials have announced the Valedictorian and Salutatorian for the school’s Class of 2008.
Alisa Fersch is the Valedictorian of the Roxbury Central School Class of 2008.
Alisa is the daughter of Kathy Berg and Edward Fersch of Roxbury. Alisa has been in six Roxbury Drama Club productions, as well as being involved with the Open Eye Theater in Margaretville.
She is a three-sport athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and tennis and has been a Delaware League All-Star for two of these. Alisa is a member of the National Honor Society and served as treasurer and president.
She has been involved in Science Olympiad for six years and was awarded the Bausch & Lomb Award last year.
In the fall, Alisa will be attending Wesleyan University.
Michelle Massell is the Salutatorian of the Roxbury Central School Class of 2008.
Michelle is the daughter of Stephanie Massell and the late Craig Massell. Michelle has been on the Superintendant’s List consistently since 9th grade. Michelle has represented RCS at various leadership conferences, and been the recipient of the RCS Citizenship award.
Michelle was awarded the New York State Academic Excellence Scholarship, which is based on her excellent regents scores. In the fall, Michelle will be attending Herkimer County Community College to major in Accounting.
