Orange City, Iowa — Jon Dykstra, a student at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, is a member of the Symphonic Band this semester.

The Symphonic Band will tour in Mitchell and Sioux Falls, S.D., March 30 to April 1, performing full or partial concerts in six venues. For concert times and details, visit www.nwciowa.edu/band-tour.

Since opening his law practice in Margaretville in 1992 he has been town attorney for the Town of Middletown and has served on the boards of directors and as a officer of many not-for-profit corporations in the area including the Round Barn of Halcottsville, The Roxbury Arts Group, Shandaken Theatrical Society, Greater Margaretville Chamber of Commerce, Margaretville Hospital, Mountainside Residential Care Center, Delaware County ARC and as a member of the Board of Governors of New York State ARC.

MCS students earn recognition at annual academic banquet

Margaretville Central School held its 13th annual Excellence in Academics Banquet on Monday night to recognize the academic achievements of students in grades seven through 12. In addition to honoring the students who appeared on the honor roll, high honor roll and principal’s list, a number of scholarships and awards were presented.

Andes Central School held its 2009-2010 Athletic Banquet on Wednesday, June 9 during which the school’s top athletes were recognized for their efforts during the 2009-2010 school year. The Excellence in Athletics Award in memory of Bruce Butler was awarded to Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews and Cody Ruff.


Margaretville Central School honors student-athletes, coaches at annual banquet

Margaretville Central School held its 17th annual athletic awards banquet Monday night to recognize the achievements of MCS student-athletes and to present a number of end-of-year awards.
In addition to recognizing the various accomplishments of Blue Devil sports teams, individual honors were bestowed with the Henry Dietrich Awards, the Nate Dougherty Memorial Awards and the Most Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards. In addition, the MCS athletic department presented the Distinguished Coaching Award to longtime modified softball coach Bill Fiedler.
