News publisher's son directing Disney Radio show

Los Angeles — The Walt Disney Co. helped make the musical thrive again with its “High School Musical” film series. Now it’s trying to bring back an even older format with a radio serial.
Next week Radio Disney is launching a 20-episode series that follows a 14-year-old girl as she tries to pursue a dream of becoming a singer and songwriter.


Van Houten promoted to major

Hampton, VA — Neal A. Van Houten has been promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Air Force. He is chief of the munitions action group at Headquarters Air Combat Command, Langley Air Force Base, Hampton, Va. The major has served in the military for 10 years.


Bill Ennis gets advancement post

Stamford, CT — King Low Heywood Thomas (King) school has announced that Bill Ennist has been named associate head of school, advancement. Ennist assumes this position having served King as associate head of school for one year, and head of upper school for nine years.


Jones returns as MRCC nursing director

Margaretville — Christina Jones, Director of Nursing at Mountainside Residential Care Center, returned to duty on July 29 after a four-month medical leave of absence.


Hillis promoted to lending post

Robert W. Armstrong, president and CEO of The Delaware National Bank of Delhi has announced that Dee Hillis has been promoted to the position of vice president of commercial lending.


New day camp director named

Claryville — Longtime staffer Dale Whittaker has returned to Frost Valley YMCA in the role of Day Camp Director, it was announced this week.
Dale has worked at Frost Valley in various capacities for nearly a decade. He initially served as a cabin counselor for children with developmental disabilities in an inclusion program. In subsequent summers, he attained the positions of Village Chief, Outdoor Educator and Mainstreaming Program Director.


New Altar Servers at Holy Innocents Church

Bishop Frank Betancourt, along with Father Dante Tarantini, have been scheduling classes for the next generation of altar servers at Holy Innocents Church in Halcottsville. Dante Tarantini Jr. has been an altar server for several years now, but with the recent move to college in Cobleskill he has passed on the torch.

Ulster Savings Bank recently announced staff promotions at their Schwenk Drive, Kingston headquarters.


Peg Ellsworth named MARK Group director

Peg Ellsworth, Roxbury’s community resources director, has been named executive director of the MARK Group, said MARK Board President Ernest Steiglehner on Friday.
“It was a consensus decision for all of us on the search committee and affirmed unanimously by our board,” said Steiglehner. “Peg has great experience working with communities. What really sold us was her detailed plan for how to move the organization forward in the next six months and how to interact closely with all the communities we serve, because that community work is MARK’s strong suit and central to our mission.”


Randazzo named CEO, president of The Sulfur Institute

Catherine Randazzo, daughter of Ted Randazzo of Halcott Center, recently began work as president and CEO of The Sulphur Institute (TSI) in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining The Sulphur Institute, Randazzo was chief operating officer and executive vice president of The Society of the Plastics Industry, also located in Washington.
