Todd earns Dean's List honors

Olivia Todd, the Valedictorian of the Class of 2011 at Margaretville Central School, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Fall Semester at William Smith College in Geneva.
Dean’s List students at William Smith College have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.
Olivia is the daughter of Joe and Brenda Todd of Fleischmanns.

Cody Allison on dean's list

Albany — Cody Allison from Roxbury, a student at Sage College of Albany, has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for the Fall 2011 Semester. Dean’s Honor List students obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 after completing a course load of 112 credit hours or more, and receiving no letter grade below a C.

O'Connell earns Dean's List honors

Fleischmanns resident Patrick O’Connell, a freshman at Wagner College on Staten Island majoring in international studies, has been named to the college’s Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Students at Wagner College must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or greater to be named to the Dean’s List. Patrick’s grade point average for the fall semester was 3.8.

O’Connell is a 2011 graduate of Margaretville Central School and is the son of Christine Keck of Margaretville and the grandson of Al and Nancy Keck of Fleischmanns.

Area graduates earn scholarships through German Club donations

Three area high school graduates have been awarded $400 scholarships by the German-American Club of the Northern Catskills, Inc. for their academic excellence and participation in extra curricular activities.  They are Olivia Todd and Patrick O’Connell from Margaretville Central School and Sean Kline from Delaware Academy in Delhi.
Olivia will be attending Hobart and Willam Smith College in Geneva and hopes to become a pediatrician, working in the Catskills. 
Patrick is off to Wagner College in Staten Island and wants to work for the CIA or FBI. 

Melinda White receives degree

Halcott Center native Melinda White has graduated from SUNY Albany Honors College with a political science major. 
After spending a semester as an intern in Washington, DC with the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Melinda returned to Albany to finish her senior year this spring as the Valedictorian of the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, Department of Political Science, State University of New York at Albany. 

Jonathan Dykstra of Roxbury wins Northwestern Scholarship

Orange City, Iowa— Jonathan Dykstra of Roxbury has been awarded an academic honor scholarship from Northwestern College, Orange City, Iowa, for the 2011-2012 school year.
Dykstra, a graduate of Roxbury Central School, will be transferring from Hartwick College. The son of Richard and Carol Ann has been awarded an Academic Achievement Scholarship, which awards a minimum of $2,000 per year, in recognition of his outstanding academic background.

High school commencements time to reflect and look ahead

Graduation time is an annual rite of summer that’s generally accompanied by warm weather and barbecues. So it was with much anticipation that commencement ceremonies were held last weekend for the classes of 2011 at Andes, Margaretville and Roxbury central schools.
Twelve seniors graduated from Andes on Friday, June 24 at 7 p.m. The graduates were Joshua Bonifacic, Nathan Eagle, Peter Fabrykiewicz, Travis Fairbairn, Thomas Falco, Gabrielle Harp, Isabella Mincarelli, Eric Reed, Cameron Roberts, Gina Tait, Kayla Weaver, and Ian Wright.

Caitlyn Roberts on Dean's List

Caitlyn Roberts of Arkville has been cited for academic achievement for the fall 2010 semester at the State University of NY College of Technology at Delhi.

An accounting major, Caitlyn has qualified for the Dean’s List. To earn Dean’s List honors, a student must have an academic average between 3.5 and 4.0.

Buerge named to scholar list

Kaitlin May Buerge has been placed on the college scholar list by earning a 3.83 average during the fall semester of 2010. Kaitlin is a sophomore at Middlebury College in Vermont where she is majoring in English.

Honor students named in Margaretville

Margaretville Central School has announced its honor rolls for the first quarter of the 2010-2011 school year.

Principal’s List:Those students achieving averages of 94.5 to 100.
12th Grade - Samantha Costa, Caitlin Kohn, Tony Lam, Erica Mendoza, Katherine Rosa and Olivia Todd.
11th Grade - Christy Archibald, Diana Caamano, Erin Filupeit and Katelynn Mauro.
