Sean Gauntt named Presidential Scholar

Sean M. Gauntt of Arkville, a freshman majoring in engineering studies, was named a Presidential Scholar for the fall 2013 semester at Clarkson University.
Presidential Scholars must achieve a minimum 3.80 grade-point average and carry at least 14 credit hours.
Sean was the valedictorian of the Margaretville Central School Class of 2013 and is the son of Jim and Renee Gauntt, also of Arkville.

Named to honor society

St. John’s University of New York inducted Katherine Palen into The Honor Society of the College of Professional Studies on November 14.

Katie was selected for this honor for, “Having combined, in an outstanding manner, qualities of scholarship, leadership, integrity, service to the university and community, and commitment to academic excellence.”

Katie is a 2010 graduate of Downsville Central School and the daughter of Pete and Cassie Palen of New Kingston.

Van Put is Fordham Law grad

Ed and Judy O’Brien Van Put of Livingston Manor are proud to announce the graduation of their son, Lee Barton Van Put, with a Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) degree from Fordham University School of Law in New York City on May 20.

During his studies, Lee was a board member of the Environmental Law Advocates and Farm to Fordham, and served for three years on the Environmental Law Review, most recently as Senior Notes and Articles Editor. 

Greene named to Dean's List

Rochester — Roxbury resident Danyelle Greene has been named to the Dean’s List for the winter quarter at Rochester Institute of Technology.
A third-year student in RIT’s College of Applied Science and Technology, Danyelle is studying civil engineering.
Danyelle is the daughter of Wendy and Steve Greene of Roxbury and is a 2009 graduate of Roxbury Central School.

Todd earns Dean's List honors

Olivia Todd, the Valedictorian of the Class of 2011 at Margaretville Central School, has been named to the Dean’s List for the Fall Semester at William Smith College in Geneva.
Dean’s List students at William Smith College have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or greater.
Olivia is the daughter of Joe and Brenda Todd of Fleischmanns.

Cody Allison on dean's list

Albany — Cody Allison from Roxbury, a student at Sage College of Albany, has been placed on the Dean’s Honor List for the Fall 2011 Semester. Dean’s Honor List students obtain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 after completing a course load of 112 credit hours or more, and receiving no letter grade below a C.

O'Connell earns Dean's List honors

Fleischmanns resident Patrick O’Connell, a freshman at Wagner College on Staten Island majoring in international studies, has been named to the college’s Dean’s List for the fall 2011 semester. Students at Wagner College must earn a grade point average of 3.7 or greater to be named to the Dean’s List. Patrick’s grade point average for the fall semester was 3.8.

O’Connell is a 2011 graduate of Margaretville Central School and is the son of Christine Keck of Margaretville and the grandson of Al and Nancy Keck of Fleischmanns.

RCS top student will attend Elmira

Rachel MeckesRachel MeckesRoxbury Central School 2010 graduate Rachel Meckes has been awarded the Valedictorian and Salutatorian full-tuition Honor Scholarship at Elmira College in Elmira.

Meckes will join the Class of ’14 as one of 43 valedictorians and salutatorians from across the country to enroll at Elmira this fall.

lfred State graduate earns nursing degree

Erica HubbellErica HubbellErica Christine Hubbell graduated from Alfred State College on May 16, 2010 where she earned an associate’s degree in applied science in the nursing program.

On Dean’s List

Kelsey O’BrienKelsey O’BrienAlbany — Kelsey O’Brien of Roxbury has been named to the University at Albany’s spring 2010 Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement.

Kelsey is a senior psychology major who expects to graduate in December.
