Police News: Feb. 2, 2011

Shandaken Police report the arrest of Richard C. Paradies, 56, of Mount Tremper last week Wednesday morning. Police say Paradies was wanted in Delaware County by the sheriff’s office for failure to pay child support.
Paradies was turned over to sheriff’s investigators and remanded to the Delaware County Jail for a term of six months incarceration.

Grant Cure, 17, of Fleischmanns, a student at Margaretville Central School, was arrested by state police Wednesday and charged with second-degree harassment. Police say the arrest followed a fight with another student, both of whom are members of the school’s varsity basketball team, in a parking lot at school following practice.

An Arkville man was arrested by state police Friday and charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute after his vehicle was stopped on Barnes Street in Arkville and police allegedly found eight glassine envelopes containing heroin in the man’s car.

An East Meredith woman faces a number of charges following a one-car personal injury accident on Meredith Street in Delhi last week Monday.
State police say they charged Jessica M. Vanalstyne-Hitz, 37, of East Meredith with speeding, 62 in a 30 zone, failure to comply with an officer, using a mobile phone in a motor vehicle, DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Oppenheimer, 40, of Margaretville was arrested by state police Friday and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of controlled substances and first-degree falsifying business documents following an investigation by Investigator Jeffrey Shepardson of the New York State Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement.

Mihaly Horvath, 19, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police Saturday and charged with third-degree burglary, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree burglary following what police described as a domestic dispute between Horvath, his ex-girlfriend and another man.
