Kingston resident Mark A. Hunt, 26, was arrested last Tuesday for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, uninspected motor vehicle and a broken windshield. He was stopped by police after he was allegedly seen traveling 70 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Frantz Jeanniton, 49, of Hamden was arrested by state police on Jan. 1 and charged with DWI after he was stopped in the Village of Walton for a traffic violation.
Police say they charged Jeanniton when his blood alcohol level allegedly tested .16 percent.
In addition to DWI he was charged with being an unlicensed operator and failure to signal a turn.

Two Stamford residents were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana last week Monday after state police responded to a possible domestic dispute call at their residence. Police say they charged Jason B. Briggs, 30, and Kristal L. Hess, 18, after they allegedly found two glass smoking pipes containing marijuana residue in their residence at 115 Main Street in Stamford. Both Briggs and Hess were issued appearance tickets returnable in Village of Stamford Justice Court on Dec. 17.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on Saturday on New York state Route 10 in the Town of Walton located near what is locally known as Ice House turn. The vehicle, which was traveling north on state Route 10, appeared to have lost control, struck the guide rail, spun around and struck several large trees before coming to rest over the guide rail against a tree on the east shoulder of the road above the river. The vehicle’s engine compartment then caught fire.

James R. Lee, 43, of Jefferson, was arrested Nov. 17 and charged with DWI following a traffic stop. He was issued uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Village of Stamford Court on Dec. 4.

State police arrested Michael J. Vreeland, 58, of Bridgewater, N.J., and charged him with DWI following a traffic stop in Delhi on Monday, Nov. 10. Police stopped Vreeland after observing that a taillight on his vehicle was out, and upon interviewing him allegedly noticed an odor of alcohol. He subsequently failed a standard field sobriety tests and was issued uniform traffic tickets for DWI, aggravated DWI, first-degree felony aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operator and obstructed taillight. Vreeland was remanded to the county jail on $2,500 and scheduled to reappear on Nov. 14.

Margaretville resident Matthew Galunas was arrested Oct. 30 on a warrant from the Delaware County Court, where he was wanted on two charges of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two charges of third-degree burglary, two charges of third-degree grand larceny, and two charges of third-degree criminal mischief. The charges stemmed from a Dec. 25, 2007 burglary of the CVS pharmacy and the A&P store in Margaretville, during which property valued at over $3,000 was stolen from each store. Galunas also allegedly possessed morphine, oxycodone, oxycontin and methadone. He was sent to jail and is awaiting arraignment. A trial is tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 12.

Casey J. Sidorwicz, 20, of Andes was arrested by state police last week Wednesday and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief after he allegedly drove his pickup truck on the soccer field and surrounding area at Andes Central School causing damage to the fields. Sidorwicz was issued an appearance ticket returnable in Town of Andes Justice Court on Nov. 13.

Charles E. Currie, 49, of Hamden was arrested by state police last week Tuesday and charged with DWI after he was stopped for speeding on state Route 10 in Delhi. Police say that during their investigation they discovered that Currie was on felony probation in Delaware County for two previous DWI convictions in the past 10 years. Currie was arraigned in Town of Delhi Justice Court for felony DWI and sent to the county jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
