On June 2, following an investigation into an accident that occurred on May 25, Delaware County Sheriff Deputies charged Steven R. Freeth, 36, of East Meredith for “Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident” and “Failure to Keep Right.” Freeth was released on tickets to reappear at a later date in Town of Delhi Court.

State police issued uniform traffic tickets to South Kortright resident Raymond Hayes, 50, last Monday after he was observed operating a dump truck/trailer/bulldozer with expired registration and a broken windshield. Upon running a scan of the vehicle, police say it was found to be unregistered, uninspected and uninsured, and that the trailer had inadequate brakes, bald tires and multiple light violations – a violation of Hayes’ conditional license. The tickets issued were returnable to the Town of Stamford Court on June 9.

State police arrested Stamford resident Jason W. Dumond, 26, on Friday afternoon and charged him with aggravated felony DWI, felony DWI, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and traffic violations after police say they attempted to approach him regarding a non-compliance with a court order to surrender his firearms as a condition of his release from jail and an issuance of an order of protection.

Heidi N. Savery, 32, of Binghamton was arrested by state police last week Monday and charged with speeding and aggravated unlicensed operation after she was stopped on Route 28 in the Town of Middletown for allegedly driving 87 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone. Savery was arraigned in Town of Middletown Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $500 cash bail. She is scheduled to reappear in Town of Middletown Justice Court on May 27.

Three Roxbury youths were arrested Wednesday in connection with an investigation into complaints that gasoline and tires and rims were being stolen from vehicles in the Grand Gorge area. Arrested were Jamie A. VanDyke, 19, who was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, and Rudolph B. Staab and Michael V. Johnson, both 17, who were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. State police say the thefts were centered in the area of the Grand Gorge Civic Center. All three defendants were arraigned in the Town of Roxbury Justice Court and remanded to the county jail.

State police are continuing their investigation into repeated vandalism incidents at the Andes Town Hall and swimming pool complex. Troopers at the Margaretville barracks said the vandalism has occurred over several years, but that the attacks have increased in recent months. Twice during that period, bullets have been fired through the windows in the Andes Town Court.

State police arrested Fleischmanns resident Joshua A. Smith, 18, on April 25 and charged him with second-degree forgery after he allegedly forged the name of his estranged stepfather, Hans M. Hohn, as a co-sign on a bank loan for a vehicle. Police say Smith’s mother told them she had given her son permission to sign her name, but not Hohn’s, and that upon arrest, Smith admitted to signing Hohn’s name as a co-signer for the vehicle. He was arraigned and released on recognizance to reappear on April 22.

Police responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident on Dry Brook Road last Wednesday where they say Arkville resident Lori L. Knapp, 39, left the road and hit a boulder and an earth embankment. Police say they observed an odor of alcohol on Knapp’s breath and white powder in her nasal passage.

Unadilla resident Renee E. Gill, 38, was arrested on April 8 and issued uniform traffic tickets for third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and operating a motor vehicle without insurance last week. State police say they stopped her after a check of the vehicle’s plates found that the vehicle had been suspended for no insurance in effect. A subsequent check on Gill’s license allegedly found that Gill’s license had also been suspended. Both tickets are returnable to the Town of Delhi Court on April 22.

Misdemeanor charges against Arkville resident Jeremiah A. Clark, 27, related to the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle were dismissed on motion of his attorney, Michael A. Jacobs of Stamford, on March 27. Jacobs made the motion to preclude the testimony of the prosecution witnesses on the district attorney’s failure to comply with Jacobs’ production of evidence demands in the Town of Middletown Court.
