Area Police News: September 24, 2014

Early Tuesday morning, September 23, Delaware County Sheriff’s Deputies seized a quantity of drugs and arrested and charged an Ulster County probationer with a felony weapon possession charge after investigating suspicious, illegally parked vehicles on Church Street in Arkville.
Francis J. Smith, 35, of Kingston, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony.

Area Police News: Sept. 17, 2012

Steven A. Karg, 29, of Grand Gorge was arrested by state police on September 8 and charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree menacing after he allegedly entered a neighbor’s home brandishing a four-inch knife.
Police say the unidentified homeowner pushed Karg out onto the front lawn where a fight ensued. Both men suffered minor injuries and were evaluated by Grand Gorge EMS who were called to the scene.

Area Police News: September 10, 2012

Louis A. Volpe, 24, of Nes­conset was arrested by state police on September 4 and charg­ed with third-degree and fifth-degree criminal possession of stol­en property and second-degree criminal trespass in connection with a stolen ATV from a home on Jump Brook Road in the Town of Roxbury.
State police say they were called to the scene by Roxbury Constable Steve Williamson who allegedly caught Volpe at the scene with the ATV in the bed of his pickup. Other household items were also recovered at the scene.

Area Police News: Sept. 3, 2012

Vanessa A. Hrycyna, 30, of Gilboa was arrested by state police on August 26 and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after her three-year-old son fell out of a wagon being pulled by a lawn tractor that was being driven by her nine-year-old daughter. Police say they made the arrest when Hrycyna told them that she had given her daughter permission to drive the tractor.
The three-year-old suffered a laceration to his head and was treated at O’Connor Hospital for the injury.

Area Police News: August 27, 2104

On August 13 the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office arrested Troy Ladlee, 21, of Delhi and Jesse Stefanelli, 24, of Bovina for one count of disorderly conduct. The charges are a result of an incident that took place at the Delaware County Fairgrounds. Ladlee and Stefanelli were both arraigned in the Village of Walton Court and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail to await further court action.

Area Police News: July 30, 2014

William W. Hrazanek, 68, of Fleischmanns was arrested by state police on July 22 and charged with fourth-degree crim­inal solicitation after two men working for him allegedly removed several items of personal property from a residence on John Tuttle Road in the Town of Middletown. Police say that Hrazanek had told the two men that he had purchased the property from Delaware County in the county’s tax sale but that the sale had not been completed.

Area Police News: July 23, 2104

Town of Shandaken Police report the arrest of Christian Gulick, 24, of Phoenicia following the investigation of a one-car property damage motor vehicle accident. On Sunday, July 20 at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Route 28 in Phoenicia, Gulick lost control of his 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, leaving the roadway and striking a mailbox.

Area Police News: July 14, 2014

Mathew N. Howard, 25, of Hobart was arrested by state police on July 10 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding after he was stopped on Main Street in Roxbury.
He was arraigned in Town of Roxbury justice Court and released to reappear on July 23 at 7 p.m.
A Fleischmanns resident was arrested by state police on July 12 and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment after he allegedly fired four rounds from a .223 caliber rifle in the direction of a neighbor’s home.

Area Police News: July 9, 2014

On June 29, Delaware Coun­ty Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Claude Manon, 46, of Arkville for theft of services, a class “A” misdemeanor. It is alleged that Manon illegally obtained cable TV from the Margaretville Telephone Company without the permission and did not pay for the service.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable on July 10 at 9 a.m. in the Middletown Town Court.

Area Police News: July 2, 2014

Sheriff’s investigators arrested Michael H. Vogel, 22, of Delhi on June 24 on an arrest warrant issued by the Town of Delhi Justice Court. Vogel was charged with one count of second-degree forgery, one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of petit larceny.
Vogel was arraigned in the Town of Delhi Justice Court and remanded to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail. He is scheduled to re-appear in court at a later date for further court action.
