Marion Miller, 88, formerly of Fox Hollow Road, Shandaken, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Mountainside Care Center in Margaretville. She was born April 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mabel Taylor Whispel.

Mary Alice Wiedemann

Mary Alice Wiedemann, 87, of Roxbury, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta. She was born on the family homestead on June 26, 1922, in Kiskatom, the daughter of Nelson F. Lasher and Elizabeth Palmer.

Andrew Gray Jr.

Andrew Gray Jr., 76, of Roxbury, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in Roxbury. He was born Sept. 13, 1933 in Roxbury, the son of Andrew Gray Sr. and Bertha Berringer Gray.
He married Emily Mead on July 9, 1960 at the Roxbury Methodist Church in Roxbury.

Harold "Bud" Gile

Harold “Bud” Gile, 85, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Robinson Terrace, Stamford, where he had been a resident for four months. Bud was born May 3, 1924 in Brooklyn, the son of Harry and Anna (Quinlin) Gile.
He graduated from Delhi High School in 1942.

Bernice Spielman

Bernice Hallie Spielman, 86, of Arkville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Wednesday, March 3, 2010. She was born in Halcottsville on May 22, 1923 the daughter of George and Hallie Townsend.
She married Leslie Spielman in 1941, in Virginia Beach. He died February 19, 2002.

Evelyn Norris

Evelyn Norris, 69, of Andes, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi. She was born in Union Grove (Andes) on May 8, 1940, to Warren and Virginia (DuMond) Weaver. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Gerald C. Norris, on Feb. 2, 1957, in Downsville. Evelyn grew up in the Andes area and attended Andes Central School. After living in Kingston for 18 years, she and Gerald moved back to Andes in 1979.

Barbara Smithers

Barbara Smithers, 83, a longtime resident of Shandaken, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at her daughter’s home in Skaneateles. She was a longtime member of the Shandaken Memorial United Methodist Church where she was active with the United Methodist Women’s Group. For many years she and her husband Smitty owned and operated Mount Pleasant Farms Dairy, one of the last door-to-door milk delivery businesses in the Town of Shandaken.

Herman Quick

Herman Alton Quick, 79, of Leggs Mill Road, Lake Katrine, died Friday, Feb 19, 2010 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born May 10, 1930 in Liebhart. He resided in Allaben and Chichester for most of his life before moving to Lake Katrine in 2001.
Herman served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, having spent most of that time in both Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska.

Muriel Robinson

Muriel Scott Robinson, 69, of Margaretville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010. She was born on Aug. 11, 1940 and grew up in the Catskill Mountain region of Upstate New York.
Muriel received her B.S. in business from the University at Albany in Albany, and was for many years Chief Financial Officer of the Audubon Naturalist Society of the Mid-Atlantic States in Chevy Chase, Md.

Claire Balcom

Claire Jeanne Kenna Balcom, 81, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010. She was born July 31, 1928 to James and Clara Kenna of Brooklyn. Claire was a graduate of St. Teresa of Avila Elementary, Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School and the Long Island College Hospital of Nursing.
She married Francis G. Balcom after World War II.
