Charles Lloyd

Charles J. “Chuck” Lloyd, 43, of Bonnieview Avenue, Pine Hill, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at the Margaretville Hospital as a result of medical complications. He was born Feb. 4, 1966 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Margaret Biase Lloyd of Pine Hill, and the late Charles Lloyd.


Angelo Lombardo

Angelo M. Lombardo, 77, of Denver, N.Y., formerly of Bay Shore Long Island, passed away Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Lombardo, devoted father of Lisa Dumont, Karen Lombardo, Barbara Quail, Angelo Lombardo, Gina Randazzo and the late Frank Lombardo.


William Mead

William M. Mead, 31, of Margaretville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at Kingston Hospital, Kingston. He was born Oct. 11, 1978 in Walton, the son of Jerry and Martha (Prior) Mead. Billy attended BOCES Auto Mechanics Program at Grand Gorge He worked with his father and was also a snowboard instructor at Plattekill Ski Center in Roxbury. He enjoyed fly-fishing and was an avid hunter.

Doris Smith

Doris Smith
Doris E. Smith, 96, of Roxbury, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2009 at the residence of her daughter, Nancy Purchell, in Grand Gorge.
She was born August 29, 1913, in Blackbrook, the daughter of Edward and Lillian (Senecal) Disco.
She married H. Ivan Smith on October 30, 1933, in Bloomingdale.


Marian Umhey was longtime publisher and politician

Marian Callaghan Umhey, 84, of Wittenberg Road, Mt. Tremper died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 at the Benedictine Hospital. She was a professional journalist and editor-publisher of the Ulster County Townsman for 37 years.


James McMann

James Benjamin McMann, 89, of Greenport, N.Y. died there Friday, Nov. 27, 2009. He was born in Greenport Nov. 18, 1920 to William and Jessie (Benjamin) McMann. After graduating from Greenport High School, he attended Ithaca College and Albany State.
Mr. McMann served in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of ensign.


Helen Avery

Helen Bertha Avery, 95, of Margaretville passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville. She was born Jan. 16, 1914 in Roxbury, the daughter of Ernest and Harriet (Hitchcock) Ploutz.


Mary Kay McLean

Mary Kay McLean, 93, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born August 15, 1916 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Salvatore (Sam) and Emily Failla. Mary Kay was a resident of Falls Church, Va., from 1955 to 1998, before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., and Andes in 2002.


William J. Moldovan

William J. Moldovan, 86, passed away Oct. 26, 2009 at the Spokane Veterans’ Home in Spokane, Wash. He was born March 12, 1923 in Halcottsville, the youngest son of Andrew and Mary Moldovan. He was raised on a dairy farm in the Delaware County home in Bragg Hollow in Halcottsville, where he lived until he joined the U.S. Army Air Force.
