Jean MacConnell

Jean C. MacConnell passed away on November 28, 2014 at her home in Roxbury, NY with her family by her side.

She was born October 17, 1939 in Biddeford, ME, the daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Kendall) Chadbourne. She was raised in Saco and South Portland, ME and graduated from South Portland High School in 1957. She was married to Robert H. Grant. In 1978, she married Robert S. MacConnell.

William Lenski

William Thomas Lenski died at his home in Arkville on Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 of complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He was 61. Willy lived for most of his life in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but spent the last few years in Margaretville where he and his former wife owned a home.

Doris Hosier

Doris J. Hosier, 84, a longtime resident of New Kingston, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
Doris was born August 2, 1930 at  Roxbury, the daughter of George B. and Marion (Frisbee) Mattice. She married Cornelius Hosier on January 9, 1949 at the United Methodist Church, Roxbury, He died on January 8, 1990.
Doris graduated  from Roxbury Central School in 1948. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, quilting, traveling, doing crafts, and square dancing. She also played the clarinet and piano along with singing in the church choir.

Commander Jack Burrows

Commander Jack Burrows, U.S. Navy, late of Stone Tavern Farm, Roxbury, left this earth on November 8, 2014 bound for flight duties in the Lord’s Air Wing.

He bid a temporary farewell to his wife and best friend Susan of 54 years. Also at the parting were his son John, and children, Ashley, Amy and Zachary; also his daughter, Julie and husband Tommy with children, Trey, Jack and Riley.

Phillip Lenihan

Phillip Leo Lenihan, 61, late of Roxbury, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 in Woodstock.
Born February 23, 1953, he was one of four sons and two daughters of an Irish Catholic family in North Dallas, Texas. He attended the prestigious St. Mark’s Academy where he developed a life-long love and appreciation of the Classics. He married Terry Kays, a marriage only lasting a couple of years, but a friendship that has lasted a lifetime. 

Dennis Bouton

Dennis Ward Bouton, 58, late of Halcott Center, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Dennis was born on July 25, 1956 in Margaretville.  He spent his entire life in Halcott Center, growing up on his family’s farm and later marrying his wife Jennifer and raising their three children in their home in the Halcott Valley. 

Howard Ploutz, Jr.

Howard (Howie) Ploutz Jr., 92, a long-time resident of Grand Gorge, died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2014 at Robinson Terrace Senior Living in Stamford.
Howie was born July 6, 1922 at Roxbury, the son of Howard and Helen (Tyler) Ploutz.
He worked several occupations but was well known for his work with small engine repairs at his home in Grand Gorge where he had a great following of customers. Howie was an avid hunter and fisherman over the years.

Berna Van Benschoten

Berna F. Van Benschoten passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014.
Berna was born December 22, 1923 on a farm two miles from the former Village of Arena. Her parents were William A. Close and Emma G. Smith.

Berna lived all her life in the Margaretville area. In 1940 she married Robert A. Van Benschoten. She worked for 28 years at the Margaretville Post Office, retiring in December 1983.

Nancy Coscia

Nancy Coscia, 63, of Andes, formerly of Margaretville, passed away suddenly of heart failure on October 13, 2014 at her home.
A celebration of her life will be held at noon on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Andes Presbyterian Church, followed by a light luncheon from noon until 2 p.m. All are welcome, especially those who shared her friendship with Bill W.
Friends and relatives are invited to bring memories and photos to share.

Jo Aganos

Jo (Gabriel) Anagnos of Fort Lee, NJ and Halcott Center died peacefully in her sleep at her home in New Jersey on September 30, 2014.
Jo was born March 26, 1930 in Scranton, PA and was raised in New York City. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
