Esther Emerson

Esther Mae Endersbee Emerson, 93, of Masontown, PA and formerly of Margaretville, died unexpectedly at 9:50 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at the emergency room at the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, PA.

She was born March 25, 1921 in Canton, a daughter of the late Milton and Cecil (Hance) Endersbee.
On August 13, 1940, she married William G. Emerson, who died October 28, 2001.


Guy Martin, Jr.

Isaiah Guyman (Guy) Martin Jr. lived a full life as a much loved man by all who knew him, or ever met him.
Born January 22, 1911 in Los Angeles, CA to Isaiah G. Martin and Mary Pearl Howe, he died May 8, 2014 in Washington, DC. He was 103 years old at the time of his death.

James Mattice

James Alton Mattice, 73, died Friday, May 30, 2014 with his loving family by his side on at his residence in Gilboa.
Jim was born April 30, 1941 at Gilboa, the son of Kenneth Rockwell Sr. and Elsie Stevens.
He married Belvia Dawn Loucks at Grand Gorge on March 3, 1960.


Alexandria Stanley

Alexandria “Sandy” Stanley, 72, died Saturday, May 17, 2014 as a result of an accident at her residence on Creekside Drive in Shandaken. 
She was born March 8, 1942 in Glasgow Scotland, a daughter of the late Alexander and Anne (McKerrell) Cassley.  She maintained dual citizenship.  


Rande Gavette

Rande Gavette, 63, of Big Indian died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Albany Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
He was born March 1, 1951 in Margaretville, the son of Richard and Barbara (Bedell) Gavette.
Rande spent a majority of his life in the Catskills, with a brief stint in Florida.  He was a truck driver for various local enterprises. Hot rods were his passion, and he had a beautiful 1953 Blue Chevy.  He was a NASCAR fan, as well as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He formerly had been a member of the Big Indian Fire Department. 


Anthony Calcascola

Anthony Calcasola, 93, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville.
Anthony was born on August 18, 1920 in Enfield, CT to Calogero and Carmella (Mars­ala) Calcasola. He grew up in Thompsonville, CT and graduated from elementary school in 1937. He joined his brothers and began working in the Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Company mill until moving to Brooklyn in 1939.


Bertha Coager

Bertha Coager, age 88, long time resident of Grand Gorge, New York, died Tuesday May 6, 2014 at the Mountainside Residential Care Center.
Bertha was born January 15, 1926 at Grand Gorge, the daughter of Charles and Hattie (Powell) Mackey.
She married William “Pete” Coager on June 26, 1949 at the United Methodist Church, Grand Gorge, N.Y. Pete died February 16, 2000.
Bertha worked at the Stamford Hospital for many years in the cleaning dept. and also at the Tait’s Motel in Grand Gorge where she did several jobs.


Willis Sanford

Willis E. “Bill” Sanford, 95, a resident of Halcottsville, died at his residence on Thursday, May 1, 2014.
Bill was born on a farm up Bragg Hollow on February 11, 1919, the son of Scott and Vera (Rosa) Sanford, but grew up in Halcottsville in a general store operated by his family. He married Dorothy Bodah in 1950 at Arkville. She died in 1989.


Nancy Ericson

Nancy Jean Ericson, 71, a resident of Halcottsville, and formerly of Wappingers Falls, died Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Bassett Medical Center in Coop­erstown.

Nancy was born May 4, 1942 at Port Chester, the daughter of Patrick and Katherine (Horbolic) Nethercott. She married John E. Ericson on April 15, 1968 at Port Chester.
Nancy taught social studies and history in the Wappingers Falls School District at the VanWyck Middle School and the John Jay High School before retiring in 1997.


Loyal Morse

Loyal P. Morse, 95, beloved husband of 71 years of Joseph­ine (Karam) Morse, pass­ed away peacefully on April 22, 2014.
