George Fusscas

George Fusscas, 95, of Andes, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at Countryside Care Center, Delhi.
He was born October 14, 1913 in New York City the son of Peter and Angelica Fusscas.
George served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
He married Christina Vassileau July 14, 1951, in New York City.
He was the owner and operator of the Andel Inn, “The Greeks” of Andes from 1953-1986.

Gerald "Toadie" Wright

Gerald L. “Toadie” Wright, 67, of Roxbury, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital in Margaretville.
Jerry was born June 9, 1941, in Morris, the son of Earl and Katherine Jacobi Wright.
He married Marlene Waterman on November 9, 1989, in Roxbury. They were married for 19 years.

Arthur Lee Jenkins

Arthur Lee Jenkins, 73, passed away peacefully at home in New Kingston Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on March 6, 1935 in Walton, the son of the late Carroll and Velma Finch Jenkins. Lee lived his entire life in the Catskill Mountains where he met and married his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Ann MacLean.

Matthew Beutel

Matthew Jacob Beutel, 10, of Margaretville, died at home Friday, Jan. 2, 2009.
He was born in Walton March 10, 1998, the son of Kevin and Michelle Terwilliger Beutel.

Hugh Clark

Hugh Curry Clark, 88, of Hendersonville, N.C., passed away Monday, Dec. 15,. 2008 in Asheville, N.C.
He was born September 4, 1920 in Roxbury, the son of the late Isaac and Carrie Clark. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene V. Clark, in 1994.
Hugh left M.H. School in his junior year but graduated while he was in the service.

Doris Tuttle

Doris Kenyon Tuttle, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 at the Pt. St. Lucie Hospice, Fla. with her daughter, Vicki, at her side.
She was born in Davenport and was a longtime resident of Margaretville with her late husband Art, who owned Tuttle’s Paint Store in Margaretville and moved to Florida in 1969.

Everett Brannen

Everett Brannen, 60, of Andes, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.
He was born in the Margaretville Hospital, July 10, 1948, the son of Frank and Inez (Perry) Brannen.
He married Gale Smith March 1, 1969 in Margaretville.

John O'Keeffe

John O’Keeffe, 53, of Margaretville, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 in Walton.
He was born in the Bronx on September 18, 1955, the son of the late James O’Keeffe and Joan (Hagen) Spatadafino.
John was employed for many years at Con Edison, Queens as a mechanic, retiring due to ill health.
He attended St. John the Baptist Church, Walton.

Jay Stanleigh

Jay Stanleigh, 75, of Roxbury, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 in Tucson, Arizona.
Jay had a career as a fashion designer in New York City, then moved to the Roxbury area where he owned a liquor store in Stamford. He traveled extensively with his beloved dog Sophie, visiting friends all over the country.

Mildred Dietrich

Mildred R. Dietrich, 81, of Margaretville, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008 at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.
She was born September 4, 1927 in Delhi, the daughter of Howard and Mabel (Brown) Samuels.
She married Earl A. Dietrich.
