Margaret Vermilyea

Margaret Vermilyea, 101, of Fleischmanns died Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Margaretville.

A lifelong resident of the area she was born December 22, 1909 in Bedell, the daughter of Joseph E. and Grace (Kelly) Bellows.

She married Harold Vermilyea July 14, 1928 at Arkville.
She and her husband operated a dairy farm on Red Kill Road in Fleischmanns until his death in 1988.

Ray Shultis Jr.

Ray E. Shultis Jr., 84, went to the Lord on Monday, April 25, 2011.

He was born on April 1, 1927, son of Mary and Roy Shultis, in Margaretville.

Ray spent four years in the Navy from 1941 until 1945. He moved to Florida in 1980 and went into house construction until he retired. He enjoyed playing golf.

Dolores Hubbell

Committal services for Dolores Hubbell, who died February 23, 2011, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Kelly Corners Cemetery, Kelly Corners, with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating.

James Bauer

A service to celebrate the life of James R. Bauer, late of Andes, who died on March 31, 2011, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Andes United Methodist Church. The Rev. Susan Woodworth will officiate.

Mary Wright

Committal services for Mary M. Wright, who died February 26, 2011, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Kelly Corners Cemetery, Kelly Corners with Pastor Shirley Davis officiating.

Arthur Grab

Arthur L. Grab, 80, of Roxbury, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2011 at his residence.

He was born May 19, 1930 in Peekskill, the son of Arthur H. and Margaret (Glassing) Grab.
He married Rosemarie Ross in 1953 in Ossining, she died March 6, 1987.

Arthur served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked for New York Telephone for 35 years and moved to Roxbury in 1991 from Ossining.
Art enjoyed golf and woodworking. He was an honorary member of the Consolidated Engine Company 77, Tarrytown.

Barbara Bouton

Committal services for Barbara T. Bouton, who died on December 12, 2010, will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Margaretville Cemetery.
The Rev. Harold Patterson will officiate.

Walter Sprague

Committal services with military honors for Walter Sprague, who died on January 20, 2011, will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Andes Cemetery.

Vincent Clark

Vincent W. Clark, 88, formerly of Halcott Center and New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2011 in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was predeceased by his lovely wife, Elizabeth James Clark.

Vincent was born on June 23, 1922 in Queens, the son of George T. Clark and Augusta E. Finn Clark.

He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union.
Vinny proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 184th Infantry, 7th Division during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries incurred during the battle for Okinawa.

Rose Smith

Rose M. Smith, 100, of Fleischmanns, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2011, at the Kingston Hospital, Kingston, due to complications from a fall.

She was born September 26, 1910, in the Town of Colchester, the daughter of John and Rosalia (Kallay) Tirpak. She married Thomas Leyden Smith on September 19, 1929, in Walton. He died April 16, 1981.

Rose was a waitress at Glantz’s Winnisook Lodge in Arkville, where she met her husband-to-be, Thomas Leyden Smith, who was a chauffeur at the lodge.
