Hazel Acampa, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 15 2009 at her son’s home in Texas where she had made her home. She was born Oct. 15, 1922 in Montreal, daughter of the late Stephen and Louise Canadian Delisle.

Linda Florence Dorsett, 56, of West Palm Beach, Florida, formerly of Bovina Center, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 in Florida.
She was born on April 9, 1952 in Cold Spring.

George S. Spanhake, 81, of Washington Street, Prattsville, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born November 2, 1927 in Wittenberg, son of the late William and Minerva Lasher Spanhake.
He was a native and lifelong resident of the Catskill Mountains.

Mary Winner, 86, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 at O’Connor Hospital, Delhi.
She was born November 10, 1922 in Omar, Michigan, the daughter of John and Ethel (Jersey) Goodchild. She married Ellsworth Winner in 1942.

John J. “Jack” Duffy Jr., 86, of Bay Shore Drive, Treasure Island, Florida, formerly a longtime resident of Margaretville, died Friday, March 6, 2009 in St. Petersburg General Hospital, St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born September 3, 1920, in Rosendale, a son of John J. and Mary Heenan Duffy Jr.
He graduated from New Paltz High School in 1938.

Murray R. Mayes, 89, of Delmar, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center, Delmar. He was born in 1919 in a farmhouse just outside of the Village of Fleischmanns, in the Catskill Mountains.
Murray lived in Fleischmanns until he was 65, except for the four years he attended Hartwick College in Oneonta and one year that he worked in a grocery store in New Jersey.

Arthur Soderlind, 88, of the Masonic Healthcare Center, Hartford, Conn., passed away peacefully in his 88th year on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the MidState Medical Center in Meriden, Conn.
He was born August 15, 1920 in Brooklyn, a son of the late Arthur Julius and Beda Soderlind of Margaretville.

Robert Andrew Pasternak, 34, of Round Top, N.Y., passed away Thursday, March 26, 2009 at his residence. He was born April 9, 1974 in Watertown, the son of Robert and Doris (Duncan) Pasternak.
He was a graduate of Gilboa Central School, Gilboa and had served in the U.S. Navy.

Helen Shurika Maxim, 87, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Wake Med Cary. She was born on February 17, 1922 in New York City.
Mrs. Maxim was a phenomenal woman. While her husband, Don, served overseas in World War II, Helen worked in a defense plant in Sidney as a “Rosie the Riveter.” She also obtained her pilot’s license, quite a feat for a woman in those days.

Martin “Tino” Bianco, 80, of Grand Gorge, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Plantation, Fla. He was born February 15, 1929 in Brooklyn, the son of Martin and Maria (LoDato) Bianco. He married Phyllis Pulizzi on May 15, 1951 in Brooklyn.
