School kids give lesson on wellness; eating healthy, having fun emphasized

Halcottsville — Students from Margaretville, Andes and Roxbury Central schools presented demonstrations and exhibitions based on the theme “Kids Healthy Living: Eating Healthy and Having Fun!” at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market on Saturday.

Catskill Park signs to get design makeover

Driving through the Catskill or Adirondack mountain parks, it’s easy to notice that all the road signs are a different color scheme than anywhere else in the state. But now those fairly new brown and yellow signs must come down and be replaced with brown and white ones. That’s according to the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT), working under marching orders from Washington.


Vacation Bible School June 15-18 in Roxbury

Roxbury — The Saddle Ridge Ranch Vacation Bible School will be rounding up all kids four years old and up at the Jay Gould Dutch Reformed Church Carriage House in Roxbury from 9 a.m. to noon June 15 through June 18.

Shandaken — The long held and popular tradition of an annual metal pick up by the Shandaken Highway Department is once again upon us.


Community Chorale of the Catskills presents spring performances

The Community Chorale of the Catskills will present two performances of its annual spring concert this weekend. Performances will be held Friday, June 11 at the Roxbury Central School and Saturday, June 12 at the Purcell Center in Margaretville. Both performances are at 7:30 p.m.


Registration open for 1,000 Books Club

Margaretville — Registration for the 1,000 Books Club is now open at the Fairview Public Library in Margaretville, the Skene Memorial Library in Fleischmanns or the Margaretville Central School Library.
The 1,000 Books Club is an early childhood literacy program, the goal of which is to make it convenient, easy and free for parents to have access to 1,000 quality children’s books to read aloud to their children.


July 1 deadline for comments on Comprehensive Plan

The Town of Middletown Planning Board will be taking written comments regarding the town’s Draft Comprehensive Plan until July 1.
