Santa to make stop at Visitors Center this weekend

North Blenheim — Santa Claus will be making an early appearance on Saturday, Dec 11, at the New York Power Authority’s Blenheim-Gilboa Visitors Center to hear wish lists from local youngsters and pose for free photos from noon to 2 p.m. Wagon rides will also be available and each child will receive a special gift.

New owner has big plans for Roxbury business site

A key property at the entrance to the hamlet of Roxbury will soon be reestablished as a multi-use commercial entity.

Phillip Lenihan of New York City and Andes has purchased the historic Roxbury General Store building and the adjacent post office building. The structures are located at the intersection of Main and Bridge streets.


Fleischmanns seeks public input on proposed zoning amendments

Jimmy DiGiacomo Auction a hit as Christmas Project fund-raiser

A festive crowd of nearly 70 hearty souls braved the cold and wind Sunday evening to attend the annual Jimmy DiGiacomo Auction and Dinner Dance at the La Cabana Restaurant in Fleischmanns.  
Proceeds from the auction benefit the Community Christmas Project, a grass-roots organization that provides food, clothing and holiday cheer to those in need throughout the Town of Middletown.Jennifer Slauson and Dorothy MaffeiJennifer Slauson and Dorothy MaffeiFor many years the Community Christmas Project has brought comfort and cheer to families and senior citizens in Middletown.  It is their goal that not one child in the area goes without warm mittens, brightly wrapped toys and a complete turkey dinner at Christmas.  Volunteers work year-round to raise money, purchase gifts and food, wrap and deliver the items, and seek out the people to whom these items will be distributed.

More than 200 people stood outside in the cold in the Brookside Hardware parking along Route 28, Margaretville Monday to show support for the 45 to 48 workers who have been given layoff notices from their jobs at nearby Belleayre Mountain Ski Center.
