April 30, 2008: Who's the keeper of our environment?

in

To The Editor:
You have waited all week for this. You have your fish pole in one hand and your tackle box in the other and you head down the bank to your boat. You row out to the peace and the beauty of your surroundings and then it happens, a motor boat goes by and the quiet is gone. You cast out into the water looking to hook that big one that got away last time and you hook something as big, you reel it in; it’s a large piece of garbage.

April 23, 2008: Think carefully about local history

in

To The Editor:
I read with alarm in the Catskill Mountain News about the plans of the Delaware County Department of Transportation for the replacement of the bridge adjacent to Susan’s Pleasant Pheasant Farm Bed & Breakfast in Halcottsville.

April 23, 2008: Binnekill stream is ready to go dry

in

To The Editor:
By the time you read this, the Binnekill stream in Margaretville will be drying up again. For the last four years the village focus has been on gaining control of the Binnekill bulkhead, not on fixing the problem that is causing the stream to go dry. Their approach has been ethically, legally and technically wrong; and they are spending your tax dollars to cover up their mistakes.

April 23, 2008: Be fair in news coverage of events

in

To The Editor:
As I read the article about the Halcottsville Bridge I realized that not all the facts were added to your story of what happened on the night of the town meeting.

To The Editor:

I’d like to say thanks to everyone that supported my son. Those of you who have met him know how special and full of life he is just by looking into his big brown eyes.

April 16, 2008: Great honor

in

To The Editor:

Since it was virtually impossible to thank all the people that attended the Belleayre Mountain Hall of Fame Ceremony on my behalf on April 5, I would like to do so at this time.

April 16, 2008: Needs reasons

in

To The Editor:

The Village of Fleischmanns is proposing to erect a water tower. The reason is ostensibly to provide a backup in the event the springs dry up and the wells run dry.

In a village awash in water, it seems we are spending an awful lot of money on it.
