There will be a Holiday Bazaar at the Roxbury Library on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Santa Claus will also be there to greet the children from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.


Roxbury's Golden Seal Building will receive upgrades and facelift

Roxbury — The gateway to the hamlet of Roxbury will see major improvements next spring and summer. The historic Golden Seal Building has recently received a leg up for much-needed health and safety upgrades, weatherization, and exterior façade restoration.

"Out of Hand" crafts exhibit opening at Roxbury Arts Group

Roxbury — Over 50 of the finest regional fine-arts craftspeople will be included in Out of Hand, a crafts show presented by The Roxbury Arts Group. The exhibit runs from Nov. 14 through Dec. 19 in both the Old Bank and Walt Meade Galleries. There will be an opening reception in both galleries on Nov. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. Just in time for the holidays, all work will be for sale and available to take away at the time of purchase.


Local election results

One of the two seats up for grabs on the Middletown Town Council will be decided by the absentee voters. After votes were tallied from Tuesday's election, counts showed incumbent Michael Finberg had won one of the two seats available on the town council; Democratic candidate John Bernhardt and Republican Jacob Rosa were tied for the remaining seat.

Budgets unveiled by local townships

Local towns have submitted preliminary budgets for the coming year, and public hearings will be held next week in Andes, Middletown and Roxbury to discuss the budgets and hear feedback from members of the public.


Tuesday Forum program listed at Roxbury Library

Roxbury — On Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. the Roxbury Library Association will host an RLA Tuesday Forum program focusing on speaker Olive Van Aken’s June 2008 trip to Russia. Van Aken will augment her program with a slide presentation.
