Margaretville — An enchanting evening with master magician Art Martello, “An Evening of Parlor Magic” will take place on Friday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. at The Open Eye Theater, 960 Main Street, Margaretville.

Roxbury — The Rotary Club of Roxbury recently passed the presidential gavel to Carolyn Faraci.
Faraci  resides on Burroughs Road in Roxbury and is employed by the Roxbury Town Clerk’s office.  She will be supported by Jim Cuttita, secretary of the club.

Halcottsville — In a new collaboration between The Roxbury Arts Group and The Catskill Mountain Artisans’ Guild, artisans will demonstrate the “how-tos” of crafts from basketry and paper marbling to quilting and wood carving at the Patatakan Farmers’ Market every Saturday from July 3 to September 4 from 10 a.m. to noon as part of the Catskill Arts and Air events at the market.

Kelsey O’BrienAlbany — Kelsey O’Brien of Roxbury has been named to the University at Albany’s spring 2010 Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement.

Kelsey is a senior psychology major who expects to graduate in December.

Roxbury Central School Superintendent Tom O’Brien had a very different job for five days last week — serving as Emergency Medical Services director at the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival in Oak Hill.

Roxbury — The newly opened Martin Lerner Gallery will present two artists of different backgrounds in an exciting exhibit that will open on Saturday, July 31 at 2 p.m.

Re-Store Challenge If you’ve ever visited any gallery in the Central Catskills, there are so many names you will know: people who work with pottery, fabrics, paint… This summer they have a new challenge: create a store starting with only an empty storefront in two days on a $1,000 budget, and generous serving of creative juices.

Denver — Chamber music returns to The Roxbury Arts Group’s Old School Baptist Church in Denver on Sunday, July 18, at 2 p.m. when the AM Duo performs a program of classical and romantic music for violin and guitar.

Roxbury — Two of New York’s funniest women will bring their comedic gifts to The Roxbury Arts Center on Saturday, July 17, at 7:30 in an evening that’s sure to leave the audience in stitches.

The next meeting of the Roxbury Senior Citizens Club will be held Tuesday, July 20 at noon at Kirkside Park. In case of rain it will be held in the carriage house.
