Pine Hill Arms race series underway

Highmount — The Pine Hill Arms ski-race series is underway again every Wednesday at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center with registration beginning at 11 a.m.


After-school programs set at Pine Hill

Pine Hill — Early Childhood Educator and Pine Hill Resident Becky McCallister will be running an affordable before and afte school program, which will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7 to 8 a.m. and then again from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Pine Hill Community Center.


Pine Hill mulls historic district designation

The process to consider having the hamlet of Pine Hill named an historic district has begun.
While nothing has been decided yet, the first meeting to investigate the idea was held last Thursday in the hamlet’s community center, where the center’s executive director, James Krueger, explained how things will go.


Thomas D. Davis

Thomas D. Davis, 65, of Woodward, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
He was a graduate of Parson School of Design in New York City and resided in Pine Hill for many years before retiring to Oklahoma. He had a passion for design and could not pass a person or pet in need.


Area residents donate building

Tragedy struck in Pine Hill back in 2000 when a 10-year-old boy took his own life.
As the community mourned, it was said by many that if perhaps there were place where kids could go, maybe things like this would not happen.
Florence and Bernie Hamling were Pine Hill dwellers back then. They had a building right on Main Street that Bernie’s Company, Zircar Products, Inc., had been using to house a research and development arm of the firm.


Catskill Cabaradio variety show at Community Center on June 13

The Catskill Community Radio presents a potluck dinner on Saturday, June 13 at 6 p.m. and the Catskill Cabaradio variety show starts at 7 p.m. at the Pine Hill Community Center, 287 Main Street, Pine Hill.


Food program is beneficiary of fund-raiser

Pine Hill — Friends of the Central Catskills are being asked to help raise funds for the community meal and food distribution program while enjoying a Sunday brunch in the beautiful and elegant Peekamoose Restaurant on Route 28, Big Indian.


Pine Hill Community Center gets energy boost

Pine Hill – The Ulster Savings Charitable Foundation recently announced a $5,000 commitment to the Pine Hill Community Center to assist them in the completion of energy conservation measures as suggested by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).


New old lights shine in Pine Hill's library

Pine Hill — The rooms in Morton Memorial Library are newly aglow with three antique pendant lights provided by a business two doors down on Elm Street, Cloudspinners Antiques.
The existing ceiling fixtures had obsolete fittings and one was completely broken, leaving an aisle and bookshelves dark. To replace them, the trustees turned to Pete Di Modica and Chandra Lencina of Cloudspinners.


Pine Hill Arms Triathlon is Saturday

Belleayre — The annual Pine Hill Arms Triathlon takes off this Saturday, March 21. This is a unique iron-man style triathlon that should not be missed by area athletes. Participants can compete as individuals or as teams. Over 100 participants will participate in this challenging “ski-bike-run” event.
