Hospital Auxiliary plans 41st antique and flea market

The Auxiliary of Margaretville Hospital and Mountainside Residential Care Center will hold its 41st annual Antique and Flea Market featuring antiques, crafts, and general merchandise on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Margaretville Village Park.
Proceeds from the antique flea market will directly benefit the local health care facilities affiliated with Margaretville Hospital. A hospital-sponsored Health Fair will be held during the market offering free blood pressure testing and blood sugar screening.


Music Festival planned Aug. 8 at Margaretville Village Pavilion

The Community Music & Arts Network will host a free, all ages, alcohol-free acoustic music festival on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 3-9 p.m. in the Margaretville Pavilion behind Freshtown.
The event will includee barbecue chicken, arts and crafts, face-painting, and other festival vendors will also be available. This event is made possible in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program administered in Delaware County by The Roxbury Arts Group and Performance Plus of Stamford.


MCS Booster Club hosts sports camp

The Margaretville Central School Booster Club will hold a week of summer camp during the month of August.
The All-Sports Camp will be held the week of August 3 through 6 and will feature a variety of activities including baseball, basketball, soccer, crab soccer, dodgeball, flag football, floor hockey, kickball, lacrosse, PE paintball, pickleball, tag games, tennis, ultimate Frisbee, wiffleball, and more.


"Geologist's Lens" opens at Longyear Gallery

Opening this week at Margaretville’s Longyear Gallery is “A Geologist’s Lens,” featuring the works of photographer David Leveson. The Artist’s Reception will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m.


9th Annual Tunament

FUN FOR A GOOD CAUSE — The Ninth Annual Tunament Golf Tournament, named after the late Bill “Tuna” Sanford was held Friday at Shephard Hills Golf Course in Roxbury. The annual event raises money to fund a scholarship for Margaretville Central School graduates in memory of Bill Sanford.


Free "al fresco" concerts offered at amphitheater

Margaretville — A series of free music concerts “al fresco” in the MARK Amphitheater in Margaretville will be held on three Fridays from 6-8 p.m.
The concerts are sponsored by the MARK Project with support from the O’Connor Foundation and bring several of the area’s most popular musical acts to the open-air performance space next to the Masonic Hall on Margaretville’s Main Street.
Wendy Nief, popular vocalist of jazz, blues and pop standards, will kick things off on Friday, July 31, accompanied by Geoff Samuels and Rob Roman.


Margaretville falls in Legion Regionals

There’s a whole different level of Legion baseball outside of Delaware County. Margaretville’s Post 216 found that out the hard way when they squared off against defending District champion Elmira-Heights Thursday at Chenango Valley High. After Walton dropped the opening round game, 18-0, Margaretville suffered a similar fate, falling, 15-0, in the nightcap to the defending champions.

Shultis retires from Coast Guard

Detroit, MI — Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christopher D. Shultis, son of Douglas and Marietta Shultis of Arkville, retired on July 17 with 30 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard.


Friday is Opening Night for "Steel Magnolias"

The Open Eye Theater’s production of “Steel Magnolias” celebrates its opening performance on Friday, July 24 at 7:30 p.m. Friday is also a 12455 zip code special. Anyone who lives in12455 is entitled to purchase two tickets for the price of one for the opening night performance, and the audience is invited to stay after the show for a free dessert reception.
