Holiday Farmers' Market is Nov. 28 at Round Barn

Halcottsville — The Pakatakan Farmers’ Market will host its annual Holiday Market on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Round Barn on Route 30, Halcottsville. Most vendors for this annual event will be regulars from the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market that operates on Saturdays from May through mid-October at the historic Round Barn.


Alta hosting log raisings for up-close building view

Alta Log Homes held a Log Home Raising on October 31 in Halcottsville, to which community members were invited to learn about the process of building log homes and to learn about how such houses become energy-efficient once completed.


Halcottsville artist's works on display in hospital lobby

Paintings by Halcottsville artist Sharon Suess are currently on display in the lobby of the Margaretville Hospital. They will be there through the end of the year.


Three artists offer Pakatakan demos

Halcottsville — Three area craftspeople will demonstrate their skills at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market at the Round Barn in Halcottsville on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Tabitha Gilmore-Barnes will use a tabletop loom to demonstrate the multiple designs available with one or two favorite four-harness weave patterns. She will also give demonstrations of tapestry weaving on a frame loom.


Students' art project decorates market

Halcottsville — Students from seven area schools produced large panels of art this year to help decorate the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market. The back wall of the market’s pavilion is now adorned with a series of murals that depict various farmers’ market themes.


Traditional sewing work will be shown at market

Halcottsville — Kathy Grassi will demonstrate the various traditional sewing techniques she uses to create her handmade clothing and accessories on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.-noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market at the Round Barn in Halcottsville.


Concrete ceramics demo at Market

Carlyle Bradford works with her hands employing one of nature’s oldest forms of ceramics — concrete — and will demonstrate her technique on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market.

Halcottsville — Claire Herz will demonstrate fusible quilting techniques with her son, Jeremy, who is the artist behind her beautiful quilted wall hangings, on Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market at the Round Barn in Halcottsville.

Halcottsville — Maureen MacDougall will demonstrate the art of making potpourri sachets on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pakatakan Farmers’ Market at the Round Barn in Halcottsville. MacDougall’s workshop is for all ages. There will be a $5 materials fee.
