Pasternak not guilty on charges

Local colleagues and friends of Fleischmanns native Kenneth P. Pasternak celebrated last week when U.S. District Judge Joel Pisano cleared the hedge fund chief of all charges in a suit brought by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Pasternak, whose local philanthropy was celebrated on Saturday at the Margaretville Park Pavilion, maintained his innocence in the securities fraud case and has fought since 2005 to have the charges dismissed.


Area vintage baseball teams win both games on Saturday

With every bit of nine innings needed to tilt the score in Roxbury’s favor, the home club fought back from a game-long deficit to beat the Westfield Wheelman 26-24 in Saturday’s game in Kirkside Park. In one of the most intensely contested games of their Vintage careers, the hometown boys persevered.


Fleischmanns museum to hold two anniversary open houses

The Greater Fleischmanns Museum of Memories will hold an open house on Tuesday, July 1 from 3 to 6 p.m. to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Light refreshments will be served. A second open house will be held on Saturday, July 5 during the museum’s regular hours, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.


Vintage Base Ball on Power Authority field June 14

The New York Power Authority’s grounds in North Blenheim make the perfect setting for an old-fashioned game of gentlemen’s base ball between the Roxbury Nine and their neighborly rivals, the Mountain Athletic Club of Fleischmanns on Saturday, June 14 at noon.

A long-kept secret is now a famous work of art! For decades, including the years during his residence in Fleischmanns in the 1970s, Alfredo Santos told no one of his major artistic achievement. Recently, however, Santos has been receiving worldwide recognition for the awesome murals he painted in the cafeteria of the San Quentin State Prison in San Francisco.


Old-fashioned fun planned in Fleischmanns for holiday weekend

For those who remember the days when the arrival of warm weather meant old-fashioned fun, the Village of Fleischmanns will offer a trip down memory lane on Memorial Day weekend.
With streets and parks ready for a summer of fun, Fleischmanns will kick off the holiday weekend with music and food, ball games, quilt shows, flea markets, rides in a horse-drawn carriage, a traditional parade, and a whole lot more.

You can “go wild” with hikes into history this summer as five of the Catskills’ most fabled villages and hamlets offer historic walking tours starting with Fleischmanns on Memorial Day weekend, then Margaretville, New Kingston, Andes and concluding in Roxbury on Labor Day weekend.

Linda Augustine joins sales staff at Belleayre Realty, Fleischmanns

Linda Augustine is the newest member of the sales team at Belleayre Realty. She joins Patty Kelly, Al Tanzer and Melissa Pacheco on the staff of the Fleischmanns-based real estate firm.
Linda comes to Belleayre Realty from Rosemount Real Estate in Pine Hill, where she assisted buyers and sellers for the last six years.
