Camp Move IT™ dedicated to inspiring young females

Jill Powell has an impressive list of accomplishments as an actor, singer and dancer. Now, she’s playing her most important role — “Inspirer” to young females. This summer, Jill and her business partner, Brigid McGinn, will open Camp Move IT™near the Catskill Mountain community of Bovina Center. The camp’s staff has one simple goal: to empower girls.


Robsons carry on Christmas tree tradition

‘Virtue’s Reward’ melodrama plays Friday in Bovina

The Bovina Public Library is presenting the continuing story of 19th-Century Bovina and its virtuous (and some not so virtuous) inhabitants in Brushland Melodrama Part 3: “Virtues’ Reward!” this coming Friday, July 16 at 7 and 8 p.m.


Vintage teams "play ball" on Saturday

Roxbury — Summer’s coming early to Roxbury’s Kirkside Park, where three Delaware County vintage baseball clubs will launch a season of summer fun and fierce competition on Saturday, May 22.
At noon, a doubleheader begins with the veteran Roxbury Nine facing the hard-hitting battery of the Bovina Dairymen. Then the Nine will take on their neighborly rivals from Fleischmanns, the Mountain Athletic Club.


Bovina Holiday House Tour Dec. 13

Bovina — The Bovina Historical Society will presents a Holiday House Tour on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 1 to 4 p.m. Enjoy first-floor tours of some of Bovina’s historic homes, as well as some new constructions, new additions and an inn.


Bovina dedicates new town highway garage

Approximately 50 guests turned out late Thursday afternoon as Town of Bovina officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open their new highway garage. The new garage was built on the Main Street location of the town’s former garage that had all but fallen down prior to being demolished in the early summer.


Local election results

One of the two seats up for grabs on the Middletown Town Council will be decided by the absentee voters. After votes were tallied from Tuesday's election, counts showed incumbent Michael Finberg had won one of the two seats available on the town council; Democratic candidate John Bernhardt and Republican Jacob Rosa were tied for the remaining seat.


Habitat for Humanity to assist fire victims

Habitat for Humanity has announced a partnership with Margaretville Central School teacher Shana Eaglefeathers to build a home for her and her five children. The family lost all of its possessions when its Bovina mobile home was destroyed in a fire on Sept. 24. The children range in age from 14 to four.


Bovina family of six left homeless by fire

A Bovina Center woman and her five children escaped serious injury in a September 24 fire, but lost their home and all possessions in the blaze. Shana McIntosh Eaglefeathers and her children were able to escape from their home after discovering the blaze. Eldest son, Sol, is being credited with helping rescue his siblings.
