Andes teenager gets jail in child pornography case

An Andes man has been sentenced to six months in jail and was put on probation for 10 years after he was found guilty of charges involving sexual abuse of a child. Clint Peterson, who is now 19, was sentenced June 28 in Delaware County Court. He was arrested in October 2008 after he allegedly e-mailed an image of an underage girl to someone he thought was another girl. The recipient was a member of the Los Angeles County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.


Reception Saturday at Chace-Randall for Cardillo's unique works on paper

Andes — The Chace-Randall Gallery presents new works by Rimer Cardillo. The show will hang from June 25 to August 8. The opening reception is Saturday, June 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. A world-renowned printmaker and installation artist, Rimer Cardillo’s work celebrates the ancient art of the woodcut, often fusing it with modern photographic technology.


Graduations Friday and Saturday for local high school students

The high school graduation season culminates this weekend, when Andes, Margaretville, Onteora and Roxbury central schools will hold their commencements on Friday and Saturday.


Andes to host byway meeting at town hall Thursday evening

Andes — This month’s meeting of the Central Catskills Collaborative will feature a presentation by the Town of Andes Byway Group. The collaborative invites the public to participate in the meeting, which will be held at the Andes Town Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.


Students honored for achievements at annual Andes athletic banquet

Andes Central School held its 2009-2010 Athletic Banquet on Wednesday, June 9 during which the school’s top athletes were recognized for their efforts during the 2009-2010 school year. The Excellence in Athletics Award in memory of Bruce Butler was awarded to Karli Tait and Rachel Andrews and Cody Ruff.


Andes team wins Pickleball title

They went to SUNY Cortland to take place in the Empire State Senior Games not really knowing what to expect. It was more adventurous spirit than expectation that brought them there. At the start of play in the 60-64-year-old age bracket of the pickleball championships, any pressure Peter Lederman and Jeff Ditchek may have felt they put on themselves.


Andes, Roxbury girls fall in sectional tourney

It was the same nemesis that struck down both the Andes and Roxbury girls in their quests for a sectional title last week. For Andes, defeat came in the quarterfinal round at the hands of defending champion Afton, while the Roxbury girls advanced to the semifinal before falling to the same team.
