Andes — We’ve lost count of how many years Andes has had an August Community Day celebration. But we haven’t lost our sense of old-fashioned fun that will take place this year on Saturday, Aug. 14. It’s fun for returning Andes folks to greet old school chums and neighbors.

Andes— Chace-Randall Gallery presents a late-summer exhibition: new works by Judith Lamb and Marie Vickerilla. The show will hang from August 13 to September 26. A reception for the artists will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14 from 5-7 p.m.


Liddles to mark 50th anniversary

Andes — The Andes Society for History and Culture warmly welcomes Doug Liddle back this Saturday, July 17 to the dining hall of the Pleasant Valley Meeting Hall at 7 p.m. for a program on historic firearms.

Andes teenager gets jail in child pornography case

An Andes man has been sentenced to six months in jail and was put on probation for 10 years after he was found guilty of charges involving sexual abuse of a child. Clint Peterson, who is now 19, was sentenced June 28 in Delaware County Court. He was arrested in October 2008 after he allegedly e-mailed an image of an underage girl to someone he thought was another girl. The recipient was a member of the Los Angeles County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
