Andes and Jefferson girls battle to tie

The Andes girls’ soccer team is the little engine that refuses to quit. With only 10 girls available to play in a game played in Andes on Monday, Andes battled Jefferson to a 1-1 tie. Andes played without their first string goalie, Desirae Coss, who suffered an injury in their game with Margaretville last week.

Citihope hosts a delegation from Morrocco

Andes — CitiHope Inter-national will host two visitors from the Kingdom of Morocco on Sunday, Sept. 19 and Monday, Sept. 20 in preparation for the Coca-Cola Medical Relief Initiative in Morocco. The program launch in Morocco will follow in the coming months.

They had lost one-half of their roster from last fall. They had only 11 girls eligible to play. They took the field on the road with almost every girl stationed in new positions. Even so, the Andes girls’ soccer team made a fierce stand in Windham Friday before falling 2-1 to the Warriors in a non-league opener.

They were spicing it up for a good cause in Andes Saturday as The Andes Hotel hosted a Chili Cook-Off and tasting in the Summer Shack with proceeds designated for new signage in the Town of Andes as part of the Andes Beautification Fund.


Andes boys star at South Kortright

With five Andes soccer players helping bolster their roster, the South Kortright Rams advanced to the finals of the Stamford Mayor’s Cup in soccer action last week.

The Rams walloped Gilboa, 10-1, in opening round action and then bested Schenevus, 5-2, to reach the finals.
